Draft Video Story

For this project I decided to take videos of Washington State intramural games because I love playing intramurals, and intramurals can sometimes bring athletes into sports programs. This means that it would relate to me when I am an Athletic Director. I was influenced by the Premiere Pro tutorials to do a sort of voiceover and tell a story of intramural history over my video of them being played. I also incorporated other techniques from the tutorials such as using the video effects to create a transition between my clips, and using the text tools to create a title at the beginning of my video and credits at the end. I collected these videos the other night when I was playing in the semifinal game for coed basketball. I noticed after our game that there was a volleyball game going as well, so I thought this would make a good fit to the theme. I love that I was able to incorporate a sports aspect into this project as well, because as I’ve said before sports are my passion. It makes a project a lot easier to work on when it’s something that I care about. I got the music that I used for the intro and outro from a site called ccMixter. This is a free to use music site. So far I am pretty happy with how my draft looks and sounds, but I also have a few things that I think I will change for the final based on what my peers say. One of these is I want to find mroe facts on Washington State intramurals to fill the space more. I also want to get clips form intramurals from different angles to make it more interesting to view. Overall though I think it is solid so far, and that my final will be good.

  1. I really love the music you used in the beginning and at the end. I feel like its really energetic like the people who are in constant motion in your video. One critique I have is to maybe extend the music so that it also plays while you’re talking. You could just lower the volume so it doesn’t distract from your voice, but still gives and extra element to your video. There were also a couple shots where your finger was over the lens so maybe editing that out will make it look better would be helpful and make your video look more professional because the resolution is really good . Overall, I think it is cool and your shots look good, although maybe you could film more intramural games with a variety of shots, but all in all I like your concept and I think it’s a good idea for a video.

  2. Hi!

First of all, I really like your blog overall, I think you do a really good job keeping a general theme. I really like how you have good and clear clips that look super clean cut and steady. I also find the music to be very fitting for the occasion your talking about – very upbeat and peppy. I think one thing you could add is some transitions. I also think you video would be a lot more powerful if you could go out to other intermural locations like the practice fields or the volleyball courts. Overall, I would just add more shots. But in general, this is a good base to start out with. I think the message is very easy to understand and I think its super important that wsu students get involved in intermural sports because it keeps everyone healthy and happy! Just change a couple little things and its perfect! Erin

  3. Self Critique,
I really like how my draft looks so far. I enjoy the topic that I chose, and can’t wait to make an even better version of it for the final. I also really like the shots that I have gotten so far from the basketball and volleyball games. There are a few things I want to change, the first of which is that I want to change the music I have used for my intro and outro. I also want to add a bit more commentary to it. Next, I want to add more clips from different intramural sports, I have already gotten clips from a soccer game to use so that’ll look nice. I want to add more transitions between shots. Overall I am really happy with my work so far, and I think if I fix a few different things I will have a really solid final draft.
