I enjoyed this class very much, in fact it was my favorite course I took this semester. I especially enjoy the way that it is laid out to be an online course where we only have to come to the classroom once per unit. This gives me time to work on the assignments from home instead of having to get dressed and walk all the way across campus. I also really love the way that our professor lays out each of the tutorials for every unit in a YouTube video. I learn by watching and following along, so this made it really easy for me to learn the content in each unit. My favorite unit was definitely the photoshop one. I have always been really interested in how photoshop works, but never tried it out before. I think that the skills I learned in this unit specifically will help me the most in the long run. I knew absolutely nothing about how to use Adobe software coming into this course, so everything we went over was new to me. In most classes I typically already know at least a bit about the things we are going to be learning, So I feel that I learned more in this course this semester than any other class I have taken so far. I am a Sport Management major going for a minor in Communications, so this class was right up my alley. My dream is to one day be an Athletic Director, just like my blog was about, but I am probably going to have to work my way up to that position. If I can get a lower tier job designing things for a school in Adobe then I will have my foot in the door, and that’s a great start. I would recommend this class to anybody because it taught me so much, in fact my roommate has already asked me about it, and is signed up for next year.
Final Video Story
For my Video Story I decided to base it around Washington State University Intramurals. I decided on this because I love to play Intramurals, and also because one day it may be part of my job to go watch intramural games to try and scout talent for the school sports teams. I took these videos while I was watching intramural basketball, volleyball, and soccer. The image used near the end is of my team after we won the championship for 3 on 3 co-ed basketball. I was influenced by the Premiere Pro tutorials to do a sort of voiceover and tell a story of intramural history over my video of them being played. I also incorporated other techniques from the tutorials such as using the video effects to create a transition between my clips, and using the text tools to create a title at the beginning of my video and credits at the end. I love the fact that I was able to incorporate something I love as much as intramural sports and sports in general into my blog. I got my music from the intro and outro from a website called ccMixter, which has creative commons music for free on its site. My classmates left great comments on my draft, and I used my peers feedback and decided to add a few more things to my video, one being the addition of a clip from a soccer game. I also decided to throw in the picture of my team because it meant a lot to me, and went right along with my project. I am very happy with how my final project turned out, and am very pleased that the topic I chose to do it on worked out so well. I am going to continue playing intramural sports throughout my time here at WSU, and I am happy I could give people insight into how fun they really are.
Draft Video Story
For this project I decided to take videos of Washington State intramural games because I love playing intramurals, and intramurals can sometimes bring athletes into sports programs. This means that it would relate to me when I am an Athletic Director. I collected these videos the other night when I was playing in the semifinal game for coed basketball. I noticed after our game that there was a volleyball game going as well, so I thought this would make a good fit to the theme. I love that I was able to incorporate a sports aspect into this project as well, because as I’ve said before sports are my passion. It makes a project a lot easier to work on when it’s something that I care about. I got the music that I used for the intro and outro from a site called ccMixter. This is a free to use music site. So far I am pretty happy with how my draft looks and sounds, but I also have a few things that I think I will change for the final based on what my peers say. One of these is I want to find mroe facts on Washington State intramurals to fill the space more. I also want to get clips form intramurals from different angles to make it more interesting to view. Overall though I think it is solid so far, and that my final will be good.
Final Audio Story
For this audio story assignment I decided to tell a story about a time in which I played in a basketball tournament. Talking about sports is personal to me because that was my childhood. This is one of my favorite stories from my past playing basketball and I hope others enjoy hearing it. I drew my idea and design from listening to sports podcasts about athletes telling stories from their childhood. After reading the feedback from my group members I decided to add in a few touches. These include adding music at the intro and outro to make it sound more like a real podcast, and I also added another sound bite. This one is of a basketball being dribbled. I figured that this would add to the overall enjoyment of listening to my story. I pulled all of these sounds from the creative commons free sounds site. I drew my idea and design from listening to sports podcasts about athletes telling stories from their childhood. I imported my sounds into audition and cut parts of my story, and then edited my the crowd sounds into it and changed the volume on it. At first I had problems importing my audio but with a few tries, and a little extra research I figured it out. I also made it so that it would blend in and out softly with my audio using the techniques I learned on the tutorials. I think that on my final draft I will add in a few more sounds just to make it more enticing and interesting. I want to add a sound at the beginning similar to what we did in the vox pop tutorial. I am very happy with the way in which my Final has turned out, and I can’t wait for others to hear it.

For this audio story assignment I decided to tell a story about a time in which I played in a basketball tournament. Talking about sports is personal to me because that was my childhood. This is one of my favorite stories from my past playing basketball and I hope others enjoy hearing it. This relates to my project because my project is about my journey to become an Athletic Director so I told a story about my athletic background. I drew my idea and design from listening to sports podcasts about athletes telling stories from their childhood. Specifically an interview with Johnny Manziel talking about the game in which his Texas A&M team upset #1 Alabama. I used audio of myself telling my story, and background audio of a crowd cheering that I pulled from creative commons free sounds. I thought that this would add a nice little touch to my project. I had issues at first downloading these sounds from the internet but I got it figured out. I imported my sounds into audition and cut parts of my story, and then edited my the crowd sounds into it and changed the volume on it. Overall I think that I have a great start that will make a great final with a few tweaks and added sounds.
Raw Audio Footage
My plan for the audio story is to tell a story about myself, and my history with athletics to illustrate my knowledge.
Logo Final

For this project, I was supposed to create a logo that represents my blog. My blog is about my journey to becoming an Athletic Director, so it only fit that I add a basketball. I was inspired by most sports teams and brands logos because in sports there is a tendency to make logos that are fairly basic and straight forward. My goal was to create one that was like this too. I began the design process by googling how to create a basketball within illustrator. I used the elliptical tool to create a shape of the ball, and then used the line tool and reshaped the lines to create the lines on the ball. Next, I used the text box creator to add my name and created it in a cool color and font.
After reviewing the comments that people left on my draft I decided to make a few changes. These included adding a gray background to really make the orange on the ball really pop. I also changed the color of my name to be red because this popped better then the initial blue color did. The final change that I made that I think made it look a lot better and more like a real logo was to warp the text on my name so that it would sort of wrap around the ball. This logo is special to me because it embodies my favorite thing on earth, being basketball. I feel that this logo really captures the purpose of my blog within it. My dream of being an Athletic Director is shown by the fact that I used a basketball. The fact that I am advertising myself instead of an actual company is the reason that I used my name on it. Overall I am very happy with the way that my logo turned out, and I can’t wait to use it on my website.
